Drop Ship

Follow tutorials, look at the shop, play with buttons and see the items up for sale.
(you can disable tutorials in the settings menu)

Change your ships load-out to whatever. stats should update correctly if you upgrade weapons.
You should be able to play any "Eliminate" levels that generate, the first solar system you create should be all "Eliminate" missions. (don't do the random missions)
